Job Purpose:

The purpose of the position is to supervise technical specialists in the materials lab, chemical lab, coordinate measuring machines and gage control. Also to work with the production teams to ensure key processes are being monitored with these technical services and help assist in continuous improvements

Education / Training:

• College degree in engineering discipline preferred, Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Industrial;

• CQE preferred;

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in quality.

Supervisor, Quality Assurance

Key Job Elements:

First shift position.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Ensure quality procedures, work instructions and inspection instructions are followed by all employees;

• Identify, create and maintain work instructions and procedures;

• Supervise in house gage calibrations;

• Supervise chemical management including monitoring coolant, washers and other chemicals for proper concentrations;

• Supervise CMM inspections (programming and operation);

• Support emissions testing;

• Schedule and allocate manpower to meet production demand for technical services;

• Interact with internal and external customers regarding quality related issues;

• Ensure safe work procedures are followed by employees;

• Utilize timekeeping system to track and schedule payroll related information;

• Supervise quality team members.

Advanced duties and responsibilities:

• Ensure metallurgical sampling is conducted for production operations in a timely and accurate manner;

• Ensure employees are properly trained in NDT as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Ability to multi-task and problem solve;

• Ability to read and understand blueprints;

• Ability to use and read gages;

• Auditing experience to a Quality Management system;

• Experience managing and leading teams;

• Effective communication skills verbally and in writing;

• FMEA, DOE, SPC, Kaizen, APQP, Gage R&R and other manufacturing quality tools.

Essential and Physical Activities Functions:

• Motion – Position requires frequent walking in shop along with administrative tasks at desk/computer;

• Emotional Demands – Expected to work and cooperate as part of team in order to meet production requirements;

• Safety – Position is safety sensitive, as it requires working in the chem lab.
