NY1498598 Glazier Apprentice and Journeyperson. Full time for the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council 4. Work within the Syracuse area including Madison, Oneida and Herkimer Counties. Glaziers work with one of the most fascinating, versatile materials of all - glass. And today's glass is so advanced, it can even adjust to the weather to control temperatures. As a glazing apprentice, you'll learn how to select, safely handle, cut, install and replace all types of glass; and weld metal framework to support glass walls.

Your commercial expertise will include installing and replacing glass storefronts; creating metal framework; installing glass panels or curtain walls and installing interior room dividers and security windows. Your residential expertise will include replacing window glass to improve energy efficiency, installing glass mirrors and shower doors, and fitting glass for tabletops and display cases.

After completing your training, you'll be an expert in working with glass, from cutting shelving for an intricate retail display to installing energy saving curtain walls on a skyline-altering high-rise.

Our apprenticeship program offers you the opportunity to "earn while you learn." Once an apprentice, you will learn glazing through a combination of training classes and employment with a glazing contractor.

We offer a competitive benefit package, including health care, pension and more. Syracuse Area(Including Herkimer, Madison and Oneida Counties)Wage/benefit packages range from $30.78 per hour to $55.59 per hour depending on experience.
