JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Cognitive Neuroscience of Creativity Lab, directed by Dr. Roger Beaty at Penn State, is accepting applications for a Human Research Technologist. The anticipated start date is Fall 2024 (with the earliest possible start date of August 1).

The Human Research Technologist will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the lab, which focuses on psychological research on human creativity and problem solving.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit research participants

  • Create computerized tasks and stimuli for experiments

  • Collect, process, and analyze behavioral, fMRI, and EEG data

  • Track project goals and budgets; purchase necessary study supplies

  • Oversee, train, and assign tasks to student and volunteer research assistants in the lab

  • Create and manage datasets; prepare data for reporting and grant submissions

The Human Research Technologist will receive training on programming (e.g., Python and R), as well as in creating psychological experiments (e.g., PsychoPy, E-Prime).

Education and Experience:

This position will be filled as a Human Research Technologist – Social Sciences at the level of Professional or Intermediate Professional, depending on the final applicant's experience and education. The Professional level requires a minimum of an Associate degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional education and/or experience are required for higher-level positions.

The successful candidate will have good interpersonal skills and demonstrate the ability to work well with others. Applicants should have a willingness to learn.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$31,600.00 - $50,500.00
