SUNY Upstate Medical University Simulation Education Coordinator in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary:

As a key member of the Simulation Department, this role focuses on providing guidance for curricular and assessment aspects of simulation educational activities. Collaborating with departmental leadership, staff, and institution-wide faculty, the position ensures the integration of evidence-based clinical standards and simulation best practices in all educational endeavors. Responsibilities encompass evaluating education and training needs, contributing to program development, and actively participating in the implementation and assessment of clinical simulation activities, with a particular emphasis on standardized/simulated patient education. The Coordinator collaborates closely with Simulation Department Directors, Faculty, and Staff to tailor simulation activities to diverse learner needs, overseeing the development and refinement of simulation case materials, conducting evaluations, and delivering constructive feedback to standardized/simulated patients. This dynamic role demands strong communication skills, both verbal and written, along with excellent interpersonal abilities. The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in multitasking, balancing independent work on self-managed tasks with collaborative teamwork, all within the context of a fast-paced learning environment and meeting deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in health- related program/profession, education, or similar. Two (2) years full-time experience in Simulation training and/or experience as an educator/trainer. Experience coordinating learning activities, workshops, seminars and/or experience with staging events.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in Education or a healthcare related field. Familiarity with teaching and/or assessment methods and/or evaluation of performance and feedback. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and/or Google Apps

Work Days:

Normal business hours M-F; some evenings/early mornings expected
