Corewell Health Operations Control Officer in Royal Oak, Michigan

The main essential function of this individual is to effectively manage the Security Operations Center which controls how the Security department functions on all levels of activity, from routine to emergency situations. They must know and be able to perform all responsibilities and functions of the security officer. Demonstrates extensive knowledge of hospital and department policies and procedures, city and state laws, and be able to apply them to efficiently and safely direct and coordinate the actions of security officers, appropriate hospital support personnel and outside agencies. They must employ and have extensive knowledge of all the security equipment they are responsible for: CCTV system, fire alarm systems, security alarm monitoring systems, emergency assistance monitors, controller for doors, cameras, audio, a security computer system providing door access and door alarm monitoring, and numerous medical gas alarms. This individual interacts in a respectful manner and is considerate of age and physical abilities, and exhibits customer service behavior in accordance with the hospital standards. This position may require obtain Public Act 330 certification and will have the ability to arrest for misdemeanors offenses and will be required to complete the Michigan State Police PA330 certification requirements.

Essential Functions

  • Apply extensive knowledge and experience required to use all the security equipment mentioned above, must control and coordinate the numerous security-monitoring systems for the proper course of action.

  • Efficiently and safely direct and coordinate the actions of security officers, entrance attendants, appropriate support personnel and outside agencies.

  • Answers, responds, and coordinates the Security department's extensive communications network, via telephone, Aiphone, radio channels and walk-in traffic.

  • Provide assistance to walk-in traffic for temporary key control, directions, miscellaneous problems and security-related issues.

  • Initiates communications with supervisors and administrators, providing them with information and updates regarding potential problems, changing conditions and concerns for the safety and welfare of hospital patients, visitors, employees and property

  • May be required to patrol campus on foot and in vehicle (or on a bike as assigned). Offers such assistance as unlocking doors inside or doing motor assists outside, is ever observant to suspicious activities and security violations.

  • Accepts and performs various duties at assigned posts and provides assistance to patients, visitors and employees. Enforces rules, regulations and policies of the hospital as appropriate.

  • May make arrests for felonies or misdemeanors dependent on PA 330 status. Writes hospital and/or City parking tickets where authorized.

Qualifications

  • Required High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Required Successful completion of Operations Control Officer training program.

  • Required Successful completion of practical competency program for the Operations Control Officer.

  • 2 years of relevant experience 2 -3 years hospital security experience. Required

  • Previous dispatcher experience desired. Preferred

  • LIC-Driver's License - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required

  • CRT-Automated External Defibrillator (AED) - UNKNOWN Unknown 90 Days required

  • CRT-First Aid - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required

  • CRT-At least one Certification from preferred list - UNKNOWN Unknown 90 Days required

  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association preferred

  • LIC-Michigan Concealed Pistol License - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required

  • CRT-PA330 Certification - MCOLES Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards 90 Days required
