HISPANIC BROTHERHOOD Youth Program Coordinator in Rockville Centre, New York

The Youth Coordinator will work with our After School Tutorial Program consisting of students and tutors aged 5-17 years of age. Tutoring subjects include Math, English, Science, and writing comprehension. The Youth Coordinator acts as a positive adult role model, coach, and mentor. The Youth Coordinator must have a genuine interest in the growth, development, and provision of a safe and nurturing environment for the students they teach. The program coordinators ability to establish authority and connections through leadership, communication, and most importantly patience will be required in giving our students the stability and nurturing atmosphere they need to succeed.

Primary Responsibilities:

Set educational standards and goals and assist with daily procedures for the After School program Prepare and maintain attendance, monthly activity planning, and monthly snack menu Prepare snacks, drinks, daily for students Prepare, schedule, and maintain transportation consent forms Monitor, assess and remediate student performance Provide students with one-on-one instructions as it directly relates to their current assignments Communicate cooperatively with school staff and parents on a daily basis or as needed Provide homework assistance, academic enrichment, and physical activity using curriculum and materials provided by the program for approximately 25 kids Create an engaging environment that fosters a sense of belonging that kids want to be in Support students in making positive behavior choices and take disciplinary measures when appropriate

Engage children and youth by following, implementing, and assisting in creating lesson plans Ensure student safety by assisting in set up, break down, and ongoing maintenance to keep the classroom site clean and orderly Promote positive interactions between volunteers, tutors, and students in accordance with child safety guidelines Maintain student safety by taking roll and reviewing sign in/sign outs for students, teachers, tutors and volunteers Identify student needs and communicate to teachers, school administration, parents, and tutors/volunteers as appropriate Create and participate in staff development activities including extra curricular summer activities Run our Summer Camp Program in July and August for approximately 25 kids Strong multi-task skills and follow up skills are a must Perform required online training and facilitate same for staff teachers as required by the New York State Office of Children and family Services Preparation and timely submission of quarterly reporting to the agency Director/Co-Director Make fliers, brochures and advertisements on an as needed basis Assist in social media presence Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

High School Diploma required Experience working with young children and the ability to coach, inspire and motivate Ability to speak and write standard English appropriate in a public school setting Spanish speaking a plus Proficient in computer skills (i.e. Outlook, Word, Publisher, Excel, Google Suite) Proficient use of social media and internet

Background Check/Testing: Must pass criminal background check / fingerprinting Provide a clear Tuberculosis test / medical clearance

Work Environment: The work is performed indoors and/or outdoors
