POSITION SUMMARY:

For Finger Lakes Children’s Environmental Health Center (FLCEHC): Provides liaison support across required functional offices and/or individuals, families, social groups, service and other organizations in the local Rochester/Monroe County area in order to provide outreach and education with respect to environmental health concerns. Will elicit concerns from the local community and provide personal experience and insight into community needs. Will serve as direct resource to families in the community and share feedback with FLCEHC team. Provides information about family and community characteristics which assists in the planning and evaluation of FLCEHC services, as well as general planning and evaluation. TAR 5-10 hours/week.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Educates Rochester area community members about children’s environmental health at outreach activities such as health fairs. Collaborates with organizational partners to increase knowledge about prevention of exposures and availability of FLCEHC services.

• Attends FLCEHC team meetings; meets w/Director and admin staff to plan community outreach events, assists in planning community advisory board planning meetings and meetings.

• Learns about environmental health concerns and housing issues in order to educate community members.

Other duties related to community outreach and education as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• High School education or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

• Candidate must have deep roots or shared life experiences within the

• Rochester community. Experience in working with an urban, underserved population affected by environmental health and justice issues is required.

• Effective oral communication is required.

• Works effectively with others and to accept responsibility for confidential and sensitive matters required.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $16.50 - $21.45 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
