You will be supervising our housekeeping team to ensure guest rooms and hotel spaces are cleaned to the highest standard in line with our IHG Clean Promise. Cleanliness is top of mind in the current climate of our industry, and your department plays a vital role in providing peace of mind to our guests.

You will support the daily housekeeping operations of rostering, room allocations, inspections and laundry operations. Your team will share your meticulous eye for detail in ensuring our spaces are perfect every time ensuring a memorable stay for our guests. You will ensure the workplace health and safety best practices are actively engaged, support the management of supplier relationships, and liaise with other hotel departments to ensure an efficient and smooth operation all being part of your day to day.

In this role you will be instrumental in the recruitment and training of your diverse and engaged team members. The successful Housekeeping Supervisor will be hands-on, someone who isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and get involved to support colleagues to establish a strong level of success within their team.

Your day to day

  • Ensure all staff are properly trained, onboarded, and have the tools and equipment needed to effectively carry out their respective job duties.

  • Supervising daily operations, plan and assign work and assist with performance and development goals for employees.

  • Assist with administrative duties such as preparing, posting, approving rosters and timesheets and ordering stock.

  • Complete monthly quality inspections in collaboration with the Housekeeping Manager.

  • Inspect public areas, guest rooms, equipment and ensure linens are clean and in good repair and advise team members of areas of improvement.

  • Perform housekeeping duties where necessary, including assisting in laundry, making beds, as well as vacuuming and cleaning guest rooms and public areas to ensure guest satisfaction.

  • Develop and implement cleaning procedures and protocols.

  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.

  • Assist with deep cleaning projects and assist housekeeping staff during high volume periods.

  • Support recruitment duties to ensure the housekeeping team is adequately staffed.

  • Ensure team members are trained and in compliance with brand standards, service behaviours and government regulations.

  • Demonstrate a sound awareness of Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures and ensure the dissemination of information to all team members.

  • Champion the identification and reporting of hazards, evaluation or risks, and design and implementation of hazard and control measures.

What We need from you:

  • A general passion for making people happy (you want to make a difference in someone’s day).

  • A hands-on leader who isn’t afraid to lead by example.

  • A seasoned Housekeeping professional with experience in a similar hotel environment, alongside a passion for engaging, empowering, developing and motivating the team to succeed on every shift.

  • A strong focus & experience with skills training & total quality management.

  • A proven approach to problem solving.

  • It’s a physical role and you’ll be on your feet most of the day, so fitness is important.

  • Strength – with occasional lifting of items up to 23 kilograms and or push/pulling heavy objects.

  • Supervisory or training experience preferred.

  • Strong organisational skills and strong knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to engage well with both the team and guests.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Opera experience is preferred.

Candidates must:

  • ability to work shift work, including weekends, evenings and public holidays.
