Position Summary

The Office of Student Affairs at the , along with the Disability Services Accommodations (DS) team, is looking to hire a part-time Student Disability Services Coordinator (VHO). This is a part-time role aimed at coordinating a high volume of disability accommodations.

The Coordinator will serve as a first point of contact and respond to student inquiries regarding pre-approved classroom accommodations related to disabilities. Under the direction of the Associate Director of Student Affairs-who also takes on the role of Disability Services Liaison-the coordinator will oversee the intake process. This includes hiring intake personnel, managing note-taking services, and organizing various other services such as Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) services, transcription services, sign language interpretation, and exam accommodations for a student body of over 130+ individuals requiring these services.

Responsibilities

  • Intake Services (60%)

    • Organize the upcoming semester's arrangements for note-taking accommodations by setting up a tracking system and creating associated Dropbox folders for the course notes that students have requested.
    • Conduct the recruitment, training, and hiring of new note-takers every semester and oversee communications with new hires.
    • Oversee the continuous note-taking operations, including weekly updates to the tracking system, downloading and transferring notes to Dropbox, ensuring follow-up with note-takers on any pending or incomplete submissions, and providing Dropbox access to students.
    • Maintain confidential and accurate student records related to classroom accommodations.
    • Available to work between academic terms (i.e., the weeks leading up to fall, spring, and summer).

    Classroom Accommodations (25%)

    • Support the implementation of other approved accommodations such as CART Services, transcription requests, sign-language interpreting services, and various testing accommodations.
    • Coordinate reasonable accommodations and support services for students receiving accommodations.
    • Track and distribute DS Accommodations Letters to school faculty and appropriate administrators to ensure timely delivery of services.

    Other Responsibilities as Assigned (15%)

    • This may include other tasks related to supporting and administering accommodations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or its equivalent, and a minimum of two years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience or familiarity with CART Services, transcription, or sign-language interpreting.
  • Some knowledge in the areas of postsecondary academic accommodations and auxiliary services and providing disability services to college students.

Other Requirements

  • Strong organizational, written, verbal, and electronic skills.
  • Must be highly proficient in Google Suite, particularly Sheets and Forms.
  • Must have experience with data management.
  • Must have familiarity with using Dropbox.
  • Sensitivity to issues of diversity, with a demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team focused on providing high-quality services to students with disabilities.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and strong decision-making skills.
