Job Description:

In addition to the compensation above, this position is eligible for location pay ($4,000/year).

Responsibilities

The Health Program Education Coordinator will be responsible for various projects in the Digital Health Initiative (DHI). Digital Health Initiative (DHI) develops, researches, and implements technology-based interventions to impact AIDS Institute healthcare goals. The Digital Health Initiative Team conducts a range of activities for community organizations, clinicians, and AI Staff.

This incumbent will support the DHI team by updating DHI materials, assessing the need for new DHI content, providing updates to DHI partners engaged in the YGetIt? project and other initiatives including presentations and platform maintenance for the DHI Academy; contributing to the development of developing social media strategies and evaluating digital tools, reporting findings associated with DHI activities; participating in existing trainings delivering digital tools and social media information to internal and external partners, and other program-specific duties as assigned. This position is located in the Office of the Medical Director (OMD).

The Digital Health Initiative (DHI) is embedded within the New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute (AI) and uses digital tools and spaces to communicate, connect and educate through projects like YGetIt?, GET! App, 'Tested' comic, conferences, and the DHI Academy initiatives. Digital technologies are used to build communities, exchange information, and interact with healthcare systems. These tools democratize access to health information by allowing key populations to rapidly gain health information in various and more convenient manners. The Health Program Education Coordinator position will support innovative digital methods that educate and connect people to health information and resources, to affect positive change in health behaviors and improve health outcomes. The incumbent will contribute to DHI program activities, develop relevant social media educational content and other communication tools, and contribute to the various activities needed to create and expand DHI program offerings. Incumbent will perform other related duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of experience contributing towards conducting training programs in health education, public health, health care, or a related field; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and four years of such experience; OR six years of such experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of digital tools and social media, HIV, sexual health, substance use and public health; knowledge about at-risk populations, such as vulnerable youth; experience with graphic design; experience providing technical assistance; experience with conducting focus groups; experience with generating reports related to social media updates and digital tools information; experience planning and facilitating meetings; experience using distance learning platforms.

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Travel, up to 25% of the time, will be required.


This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will be available.
