Investigate or supervise a research problems in the natural sciences. Independent ability to troubleshoot most minor aspects of this project. Perform cell culture and related experiments. Record results and progress. 2. Responsible for laboratory procedures - training lab techniques to professional and non-professional personnel. Show personnel how to do procedures, create training modules, keep lab members up to date on safety and procedural matters, and adhere with institutional regulations. 3. Review and supervise the review of relevant literature, selects pertinent procedures and techniques, and plans approaches to the problem. Research relevant articles to help carry projects forward and apply the knowledge in them. 4. Design of special apparatus, experiments, and equipment as needed. 5. Analyze and interpret data. Evaluates, suggests alternate methods, modifies or develops new procedures and techniques to aid in the investigation of a total research problem or program. 6. Writes reports and papers on research results. Authors or co-authors manuscripts for publication. Makes presentations at professional meetings. Discusses and plans new avenues of investigation. Assists in drafting proposals to procure research funding. Capable of generating data for 1-2 manuscripts/year. 7. Participation in laboratory meeting and other collaborative meetings. 8. Other duties as assigned 70% Experimental Research 10% Lab supervision 15% Scientific Writing and Presentations 5%: Other duties as assigned Qualifications Required Qualifications: -Ph.D. in biomedical fields or related area including stem cell biology, molecular biology, genomics, biomedical engineering, biochemistry and substantial research and publication record. -Prior research scientist experience and ability to work independently Preferred Qualifications: -Special consideration will be given to individuals with experience in human induced pluripotent stem cell techniques including line derivation, cardiac differentiation, disease modeling, 3D bioprinting, gene editing. -Skills in cellular and molecular biology including Western analysis, immunopreocipitation, Q- PCR, working with viral vectors in primary cells, RNA sequencing. -Ability to design research experiments independently, research project management including coordination and analysis of data. Including the development of research protocols and application of the appropriate methodology. -Excellent communication skills written and verbal including prior publications and contributions to grants -Successful candidates will work collaboratively with junior trainees and laboratory staff.
