Job Summary What We Are Looking For The 3D Systems site in Littleton, Colorado is expanding and needs a skilled Application/Product Development Engineering Director to lead the Application Development Engineering teams under the direction of the VP of the Application Innovation Group. The mission of the Application Development Engineering team is to enable 3D Systems’ customer through application development engineering lifecycle from ideation through to final design transfer or technology transfer working primarily in medical device and industrial applications (such as aerospace, energy, transportation). As a versatile Applications Development Engineering Director in the global Application Innovation Group team, you will focus on managing the team that facilitates the development of customer applications for additive manufacturing. Development goes from initial benchmark and feasibility studies through validation and verification processes prior to release to a design or technical transfer to volume manufacturing, either internal or external. In this job, you will not only collaborate with your Manufacturing, Quality and Applications Engineering colleagues world-wide but you can also rely on the knowledge and experience of colleagues from other 3D Systems divisions (software, R&D etc,..). You will lead a team of Application Engineers/Managers and Project Managers working in a collaborative engineering setting to drive excellence within the team and ultimately customer success. You’ll work with affiliate departments and sites to establish improved and harmonized processes driving efficiency and speed. As business needs change, coordination of other state-side application engineering teams might be required. Performance Objectives The following performance objectives will determine job success for this position: * Manage and direct the Application Development Engineering Team: o Manage, direct, and mentor the Application Development Engineering managers and their teams. Responsibilities include staffing, performance evaluations, and career development including setting employee objectives linked to business initiatives and other key performance indicators. o Oversee training of Application Development Engineering Team members o Work directly with Business development and quality/manufacturing management to triage new projects, help make business cases to support go/no-go decisions, and ultimately resource new projects across a wide variety of domains. * Coordinate and Enable Application Development Engineering Efforts: o Manage the portfolio of active and pipeline development projects, ensure proper staffing, documentation and timely delivery of milestones. o Report progress and status of projects along with PMO on a timely basis. Remove hurdles to increase efficiency and speed of development projects. o Participate in customer project meetings and lead efforts to translate and understand part, project, and validation/certification requirements. o Collaborate cross functionally with other teams as business development, manufacturing and quality to align on best practices for concurrent engineering and agile timely completion of projects. o Lead and support the local AIG teams onsite in Littleton. * Develop Application Development Engineering Processes: o Remain current and proficient with US and international medical device and aerospace regulations. o Manage and improve product realization and project management processes to deliver innovation quickly and with excellent quality. o Enforce Design Controls to ensure compliance and develop thorough, high quality, robust products and processes. o Develop and maintain product development and design transfer procedures. Education and Training * Bachelors or Masters degree in engineering or related field; or equivalent combination of educational background and work experience. Experience * Extensive, long-term related work experience in a regulated, cGMP environment such as medical device, pharmaceutical or aerospace. * Proven success in guiding and developing high performing teams; directdirect management/supervisory experience in a technology/engineering environment required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities * Ability to work in a highly dynamic organization. * Ability to guide and direct engineering teams. * Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems and familiarity with applicable federal, military, FDA, ISO and EN specifications. ISO 13485 and/or AS9100 required. * Ability to read and understand specifications across a number of products and materials. * Ability to analyze and develop engineering processes for use in advanced technology implementations. * A strong commitment to providing excellent customer service. * Professional demeanor with excellent communication skills. * Excellent computer skills. * Ability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time. * Excellent knowledge of English both written and spoken. * Due to this position's service for the Application Innovation Group in Littleton, which includes the need to review technical information from aerospace and defense customers, a successful candidate must be a U.S. Person. The Good Stuff! * Salary Range: $145,000 - $165,000 annually (salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the candidate, and alignment with market data). * In addition to a salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus based upon company performance. * 3D Systems offers a comprehensive benefit package including medical, dental, and vision coverage, company-paid short-term and long-term disability insurance, and company-paid basic life insurance.
