Hawaiian Airlines Duty Manager, Maintenance Operations Control in Honolulu, Hawaii

  • Position Summary*

The Maintenance Operations Control Duty Manager oversees the Maintenance Operation Control Center daily operation while on shift.

  • Key Responsibilities*

  • Responsible for ensuring that the VP of M&E, SOCC Manager on Duty, and Directors (M&E) are notified of all aircraft accidents, incidents, ETOPS significant items, in-flight emergencies, air turnbacks or aircraft damages, provided overall coordination of daily monitoring, surveillance, and oversight of the HAL Fleets.

  • Monitor and review all maintenance activities system-wide, including MELs, CDLs, SDLs, and other Deferrals to ensure that all required procedures or operational restrictions are in compliance with FAA regulations and company policies, procedures, and requirements. For any aircraft out of service due to maintenance, ensure regular updates are provided to SOCC.

  • Responsible for the release of aircraft for ETOPS operations. Review aircraft history for the condition of ETOPS significant systems and for any FAA reportable events.

  • Responsible for all maintenance activities and personnel assigned, with oversight of maintenance functions and workforce to include but not limited to:

o Ensure work performed is in accordance with HAL Policies and Procedures and Federal Regulatory requirements. This includes and is not limited to:

  • OEM-Approved Technical Manuals (AMM, SRM, CMM, )

  • HAL-Approved Company Manuals

o Government Regulations (FAA, OSHA, EPA, )

o Maintains situational awareness throughout the daily operation to ensure a safe operation while working to achieve our OTP

o Technical Item (TI) creation for follow-ups of individual aircraft issues to improve dispatch reliability. Be the point of contact on issues requiring HAL engineering assistance during off-duty hours.

o Provide technical assistance to maintenance personnel and contract agencies on maintenance manual procedures to return aircraft to full service.

o Conduct conference calls and meetings as required. In addition, the duty manager will assist the MOC Director when instructed.

o Ensure maintenance controllers are properly trained and qualified in the performance of their duties.

o Ensure accountability protocols are implemented as This includes and is not limited to:

  • Coaching: Discussions and mentorship

  • Provides input to the Director for employee evaluations

o Problem Solving - Identify and analyze aircraft related problems; use sound reasoning to arrive at conclusions; find alternative solutions to complex problems; distinguish between relevant and irrelevant information to make logical judgments.

o Decisiveness - Makes sound and well-informed decisions; perceives the impact and implications of decisions. Specifies goals and obstacles to achieving those goals, generates alternatives, determination, draws conclusions, or solves a problem.

o Leadership - Inspires, motivates, and guides others toward goals; coaches, mentors, and challenges staff, adapts leadership styles to various situations, models high standards of honesty, integrity, trust, openness and respect for individuals by applying these values daily.

o Self-Direction - Demonstrates belief in own abilities and ideas; is self-motivated and results oriented; recognizes own strengths and weakness

o Responsible for assisting the manager/director in the development of controller work schedules to ensure adequate coverage is maintained.

o Must be able to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays as required.

  • Minimum Requirements*

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant License

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the maintenance, repair, and/ or overhaul of transport category aircraft.

  • Management or leadership experience

  • Be knowledgeable and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Must be able to multi-task, and function in an independent decision-making environment.

  • Excellent written communication skills, including preparation of daily and weekly reports

  • Excellent verbal communication skills, including conducting system-wide briefings using teleconferences and briefing senior management

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • ** Must be able to obtain/retain authorization to access AOA areas.

/ Please note that the provided salary information serves as a general guideline. Our salary is determined by a candidate's experience and qualifications as well as market and business considerations. The expected pay range is $104,000 - $128,000./

  • Preferred Qualifications*

  • 3 years experience as a lead/supervisor / manager in line maintenance or as a Maintenance Controller, preferably on, B717 and/or A320, A321, or A330 aircraft

  • Knowledgeable of the ETOPS program and ETOPS Significant systems

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Be knowledgeable in computer programs such as TRAX, SCEPTRE, LMOS, OTIS, MyBoeingFleet, and Airbus World
