Produce Services of America, Inc Quality Control Supervisor in Gloucester City, New Jersey

Quality Control Supervisor (Produce Services of America, Inc; Gloucester City, NJ): Job Duties: Train and supervise quality control supervisors, inspectors, and expediters; Conduct quality control analysis, testing, and auditing of fresh produce to ensure adherence to established quality standards, protocols, and legal requirements; Perform laboratory work (acidity testing) for citrus programs; Continuously verify accuracy of measurement equipment and procedures; Apply company processes and techniques for fruit inspection in measuring parameters, determining tolerances, maintaining satisfactory percentages of sampling, and issuing grading/qualification of products to ensure safety and customers satisfaction; Maintain records and documentation related to quality control activities; Verify the quality and physical condition of the pallets and inventory rotation for the company's imported blueberry program and inform management of any issues that could impact deliverables; Ensure compliance of the inspectors with documentation requirements in the company’s proprietary database; Monitor produce order returns and holds and provide instructions to the team accordingly; Review inspection reports created by the inspectors for customers and manage the communications to customers regarding any quality concerns or differences from purchase orders; Communicate with warehouse supervisors regarding adjusting cold storage rooms temperatures, cleaning, and proper storage conditions of the fresh produce; Inform and escalate to quality control managers issues in daily operations and inspection; and Ensure quality control inspectors understand the parameters for the different commodities, as well as the use of instruments such as refractometers and penetrometers. Requires 15-25% domestic travel to client sites and other Produce Services of America locations.Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Agriculture or a related field, plus three (3) years of experience as a Quality Control Inspector or any occupation in which experience in quality control operations and systems within the fresh produce industry is gained.Must have: Demonstrated understanding of safety and quality standards for fresh produce; Demonstrated understanding of quality control testing, analysis, and documentation; Familiarity with quality control tools and techniques for fresh produce; Demonstrated knowledge of produce varieties and grading standards; Demonstrated understanding of defect identification and categorization of fresh produce inspection; Demonstrated skills in multitasking and working toward multiple deadlines.
