The Fly Creek Cider Mill & Orchard Facility Worker is a cleaning and maintenance professional who enjoys making the Mill sparkle and shine for visitors and fellow team members. From a clean-up on the sales floor, a mess in the restroom or trash to be removed, this position is varied and crucial to any business success. Every aspect of the position is aimed at creating a good first and lasting impression. The ownership and management of the Fly Creek Cider Mill & Orchard maintain that cleanliness makes a successful first impression.<p> Specifically important in this new position is a focus on habitual consistency, cleanliness, organization, efficiency and attention to the smallest of details all accomplished with a positive can-do attitude.<p> Job Summary: Responsible for cleaning buildings, removing debris, and keeping areas neat and tidy. Floor care, empties trash receptacles, and replace lining of trash cans, managing recyclables, mowing and trimming and moving supplies and inventory are primary responsibilities.<p> Duties include and are not limited to: <li>Cleanliness is paramount- Once trained, upkeep of cleanliness is critical. <li>Sweep and mop floors with floor cleaning machine and by hand. <li>Clean buildings by emptying trash, sweeping, and cleaning surfaces. <li>Clean, service and disinfect restrooms. <li>Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliances and refrigeration. <li>Use cleaning solutions to remove stains and clean surfaces. <li>Clean windows, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees. <li>Mow lawns, trim shrubbery and water flowers. <li>Move heavy equipment and product inventory. <li>Perform inventories of storage items. <li>Receive, store and rotate products. <li>Identify and report possible repairs. <li>Assist in maintenance projects and provide general labor. <li>Maintaining the waterfowl and chickens on property. <li>Shovel snow from sidewalks and sprinkle salt on surface.<p> Endurance- This job means bending, walking, pushing and lifting all day. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling all with repetitive hand motions. Occasional lifting 65 pounds.<p> Friendly demeanor- A good attitude is crucial to this position. A willingness to take the initiative to get the job done is required. A successful candidate will demonstrate pride in cleaning and maintaining a popular central New York attraction. If you aren't a people person do not apply.<p> When does the Janitor work? 5-6 shifts a week in-season, Time varies, and weekends are required in the fall. Off Season: varied and as needed. Starting rate of pay is $15.00 per hour with many opportunities for overtime. This is a starting rate of pay and will increase when job summary, requirements and quality are shown to be within the parameters of this description.<p> Housing Option: Housing is complimentary and adjacent to the Fly Creek Cider Mill and within walking distance. Housing includes shared bedroom, common living area, kitchen facilities and bathrooms. Bedding and towels are provided. Public transportation access to Cooperstown and Oneonta is less than a quarter-mile walk from the Fly Creek Cider Mill.
