Job Summary

The Dishwasher is responsible for maintaining dishes, pots, pans, trays, the kitchen, work areas, equipment, and utensils in an orderly and sanitary condition. This position is crucial in supporting the kitchen’s operations by ensuring all used items are cleaned and sanitized according to health and safety standards, helping maintain an efficient workflow and a hygienic dining environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Dish and Utensil Cleaning

• Scrape and rinse food from dirty dishes and wash them either by hand or by using a dishwashing machine, based on assigned equipment.

• Wash pots, pans, and trays with a focus on thorough cleanliness and sanitation, following established procedures.

• Polishing and Sanitizing

• Polish silverware using appropriate machines or manual tools such as burnishing machine tumblers, chemical dips, buffing wheels, and hand cloths, depending on assigned equipment and procedures.

• Safety and Sanitation Compliance

• Maintain strict adherence to safety procedures as outlined by health guidelines.

• Monitor and maintain temperature and chemical levels in the dishwashing process to meet prescribed standards and ensure effective sanitation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Work Area Maintenance

• Keep the dishwashing area and equipment orderly and in compliance with safety and health regulations.

• Sweep and mop kitchen floors, ensuring these areas adhere to safety and sanitation standards.

• Clean worktables, walls, refrigerators, meat blocks, and other food preparation surfaces as required.

• Trash Management

• Remove trash regularly and place it in designated containers, following proper sanitation procedures.

• Steam clean or hose out garbage cans to prevent odors and maintain cleanliness.

• Resource Handling

• Assist in loading and unloading supplies and products, transferring items between storage and work areas efficiently.

• Additional Responsibilities

• Perform other related duties as assigned by management to support the overall operations of the kitchen.
