APTIM Welding Production Supervisor in Findlay, Ohio

Job Overview:

We have an immediate opening for a Fabrication Supervisor/Manager with a solid welding background to work in our Findlay, OH location. Relocation is being offered for the right candidate to join this growing team.

Work Schedule: Schedule (Monday-Friday from 6:00AM - 3:00PM)

Organizes, coordinates, and supervises employees and activities within the fabrication department to ensure an effective and efficient fabrication operation that meets safety, quality, and production standards. Reports to Plant Manager.

Assigns work to department personnel to attain objectives using knowledge of production processes, company policies, schedules, work orders, equipment capacity and employee capabilities.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Establish and control procedures to meet production schedule.

  • Updates production schedule log weekly and conduct production meetings.

  • Determine sub-contract needs based on workload.

  • Communicate future workload to inventory personnel, to assist in determining inventory quantities.

  • Expedite all parts/equipment deliveries based on shop needs.

  • Communicates future workloads to shop and recommends work schedules and overtime.

  • Determine shop work hours based on delivery schedules.

  • Distributes approved drawings to Fabrication and Electrical shop.

  • Coordinate electrical shop assembly of equipment with electrical foreman.

  • Provide quality check to completed work, maintain drawing books, and deliver redline drawings to project managers.

  • Verify that engineering and materials manager has ordered all specialty parts outside of inventory parts.

  • Review job estimates from Engineers and provide time budgeted for tasks to shop.

  • Review all projects PTR's during and after fabrication phase, compared to original budgets.

  • Recommend and initiate improvements to production processes.

  • Establish and control procedures to ensure production of conforming components.

  • Monitor and control procedures to ensure compliance with quality standards.

  • Establish and monitor cost control to achieve department objectives.

  • Responsible for compliance with safety and housekeeping requirements.

  • Facilitate and promote company policy and the company Quality program within department.

  • Continuously provide training, support, direction, and guidance to department personnel to develop work habits, job skills and safety practices.

  • Evaluates employee performance and accountability.

  • Provides objective feedback for continued employee growth.

  • Recommends and/or administers personnel actions in accordance with company policies and procedures.

  • Track employee's time for payroll and timekeeping.

  • Handle disciplinary action needed to shop personnel based on company policies.

  • Manage hiring/discharging with shop and electrical foreman for personnel.

  • Set department goals and develop outline for achievement.

  • Exposed to noise, welding gases and fumes, and varying weather conditions.

  • To work overtime as necessary.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • 5 years minimum supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Proficient in structural/vessel fitting, Mig/Fluxcore/Tig/Subarc welding, manual presses, CNC plasma burners, shears, rolls and similar equipment.

  • Read and interpret weld process according to AWS and ASME section IX.

  • Computer literate with experience using e-mail and word processing applications (Microsoft Office).

  • Ability to learn and understand software and complete transactions pertaining to fabrication or welding operations, excellent verbal, and written communication skills

  • Work within Budget

  • Demonstrates ability to supervise diverse work groups in a team environment using effective listening, coaching, training, investigative and problem-solving skills, ability to exercise initiative, sound judgment and effective time management in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision.

  • Ability to understand and apply workplace safety procedures.

  • Practical knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment required.

  • Ability to manipulate tools and assembly components involving fine and gross motor skills sufficient to demonstrate welding job tasks.

  • Ability to lift 40 pounds.

  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, twist, pull, push, grip, and climb.
