About the role

Your Scope: We seek an energetic and dedicated Regional Reliability Engineer(RRE) who is passionate about improving the reliability of industrial equipment and is looking for a great opportunity to contribute to improving the performance of multiple Energy from Waste facilities.

In this role, you will have responsibility of identifying and evaluating asset reliability improvements and providing technical leadership and expertise for the facility based Operations and Maintenance (O&M) teams in resolving asset reliability problems that adversely affect facility business performance. A key role of the RRE is to take ownership of the Preventive and Predictive Maintenance (PPM) program and through this leadership position facilitate required Condition Based Maintenance activities. This role includes development of Standard Maintenance Procedures and CMMS oversight for the Region.

What You'll Do: Maximize Uptime: One of the fundamental roles of the RRE is to track asset condition in the region, identify performance issues, and communicate/facilitate actions in the field. It is key that the RRE partner with the facility-based O&M teams to prioritize actions and ensure timely resolution of identified issues. This scope includes identification and full utilization of spare parts. Risk Identification and Mitigation: The RRE supports the assigned Facility based O&M teams in identifying, mitigating, and resolving production risks in alignment with Covanta's strategic objectives for Safety, Environmental Compliance, and Achieving Production results. Tools and methods to be used by the RRE include: Simplified Failure Mode and Effects Analysis Root Cause Analysis Vibration Analysis Lubrication & other NDE methods Regional CMMS Champion: Included in the role of the RRE is ownership of the PPM program for the region. With this responsibility the RRE must become knowledgeable and fully functional using the Covanta CMMS. With these skills the RRE will work directly with facility resources to update and improve PPM strategies, tasks, and activities. Capital Projects: Covanta utilizes capital projects to replace and improve facility production assets. The RRE plays an important role in supporting projects through equipment selection and technical analysis. The goal for the RRE is to ensure installed assets meet production needs, so frequently the RRE will be engaged in design, field execution, and commissioning of new installations. Historical equipment performance, lowest cost of ownership, and full utilization of spare parts inventory are methods that RRE should be knowledgeable and be able to apply. Condition Assessments: Complete condition assessment reports of critical facility balance of plant (BOP) equipment. Accurately communicate inspection findings and recommendations to facility and regional management. Plan critical equipment conditi n assessment review meetings with each facility. Ensure recommendations are consistent with the 5 Year Long Term Maintenance Plan (LTMP). Other Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Reports to the Regional Maintenance Director Be a technical resource to facility personnel for machinery questions and troubleshooting, remotely and in the field. Includes but not limited to vibration analysis/interpretation, bearing replacements technical support, shaft alignment, repair recommendations, and oil analysis reviews. Professionally and systematically define, design, develop, monitor, and refine an asset-based maintenance plan that includes: Value-added maintenance tasks Effective utilization of predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies to identify inherent reliability problems. Perform PPM audits and statistical analysis of maintenance, machinery, and operations to identify and address reliability issues. Actively engage in the installation, commissioning, and start-up of facility rotating assets. This includes gathering start up vibration data and machinery temperatures and pressures. Lead Root Cause Analysis events throughout the region. Apply continuous improvement philosophy to improve safety and environmental conditions in the workplace, eliminate redundant work practices, and identify areas for energy savings. Provide input to risk management studies so to determine production and facility risk Develop maintenance guidelines, best practices, and standard operating procedures (SOP).

What You'll Bring: The RRE must have proven reliability & maintenance experience, be a good team player, and an effective communicator. The ability to troubleshoot machinery problems and provide practical solutions will be beneficial to success in this role. A requirement of the role is to hold or achieve Vibration Level 2 Certification within 24 months of hire date.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent is required. Maritime, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred. Experience, Licenses, Experiences: A minimum of 10 years of experience in an industrial facility or plant environment is required. Experience in a facility or plant maintenance or reliability engineering role is preferred. Certification by the Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals (CMRP or CMRT) is preferred. Experience in Root Cause Analysis methodologies and application is required. Vibration Level 2 certification (or the ability to pass the exam within 24 months) is required Proven experience and capability for analyzing vibration, lubrication oil, thermographic, and other PdM reports, and the capability torecommend and lead the actions to prevent equipment failures is preferred. Strong understanding of rotating equipment and proper troubleshooting and maintenance techniques is required. Experience on industrial fans and steam driven pumps is preferred. Knowledge in data analysis techniques is preferred. Skills: Motivated, self-starter with ability and tenacity to solve problems. High proficiency in MS Office, especially with Excel (spreadsheets, modeling, and pivot tables) , Outlook, and Word is required. Auto CAD a plus.
