Donor Engagement Coordinator

Position Summary

The Donor Engagement Coordinator is a member of the University Advancement team and is responsible for assisting in the management of relationships with current donors and helping to create and implement plans and strategies to improve donor retention, increase donor engagement, and broaden the university’s base of support. This is a part-time role, offering approximately 20 hours per week.

This position reports to the Director of Legacy Giving and Stewardship and works collaboratively with members of the Advancement team, university faculty, and other campus leaders as needed.

Under the visionary leadership of President Steve K. Stoute, Canisius University is in the planning stages of the largest comprehensive fundraising campaign in its 154-year history and donor stewardship will be an important part of this effort.

Essential Functions

  • Effectively communicate the mission of Canisius and promote a comprehensive understanding of the philanthropic priorities of the university

  • Help to develop, implement and manage appropriate donor-centered stewardship opportunities and activities for leadership, major gift, planned giving and endowed fund donors

  • Assist in the coordination, preparation and distribution of annual endowed fund reports and in the preparation of endowed fund agreements

  • Initiate and maintain effective donor contact and facilitate communication between donors and students

  • Draft donor correspondence and thank you notes

  • Utilize social and internal media tools to acknowledge and thank donors

  • Orchestrate and execute annual stewardship events and other donor recognition activities as the need arises

  • Record activity and contact with donors into CRM Advance database in a timely manner

  • Other duties as assigned to support the mission of Canisius University

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree; master’s degree preferred

  • Minimum of two years successful experience in donor relations or fundraising, preferably in higher education, or relevant experience involving relationship building, sales or marketing

  • Special event planning and execution

  • Ability to successfully manage a multitude of diverse tasks

  • Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills

  • A proven ability to self-motivate and work both independently and as part of a team

  • A deep appreciation for and commitment to the Catholic and Jesuit mission and intellectual tradition of Canisius University

  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

  • Familiarity with client management systems - Ellucian CRM Advance a plus

  • Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite products

Compensation:

Salary: $29,225.00 annually

Please note that the compensation information is a good faith estimate of the base pay for this position. The selected candidate’s actual base pay will be based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors including experience. Information about the total compensation package for this position will be provided during the interview process.

This is a part-time, 12-month position. The position requires occasional local travel and evening/weekend work.
