Description

We are on the lookout for an experienced Controller to join our non-profit organization located in Aptos, California. The primary responsibility of this role involves managing the daily operations of a finance team, collaborating extensively across departments, and setting a standard for transparency and clarity. The successful candidate will demonstrate effective stewardship of funds and will be a significant contributor to our mission of investing in the prosperity of farmers, ranchers, and fishers with limited access to financial resources.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise the finance team to establish and meet objectives for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closures and obligations.

• Establish uniform accounting policies, methods, and protocols for all programs, employing industry best practices.

• Create and enforce internal controls to enhance transparency, clarity, and safeguarding of organizational assets.

• Cultivate a culture of trust and efficiency within the Finance department that extends throughout the organization in a collaborative fashion.

• Lead the annual budgeting process, aiding in budget formation, variance analysis, and forecasting while continuously improving processes and communication to address requests.

• Conduct or facilitate training sessions for staff on financial management principles throughout the organization.

• Manage the annual audit and tax filing process, overseeing timelines and ensuring completion of deliverables.

• Assist development efforts by aiding in grant/contract budget preparation, intake, and reporting.

• Coordinate with Development and Operations to facilitate the transition from application to implementation.

Requirements • Proficiency with Accounting Software Systems

• Demonstrated experience with ADP - Financial Services

• Solid understanding of DCAA regulations and requirements

• Familiarity with ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning

• Ability to effectively use ERP Solutions

• Proven capability in managing all Accounting Functions

• Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Strong Auditing skills

• Experience with Budget Processes
