St. Luke's University Health Network Equipment Supply Coordinator, Emergency Department (Full Time Days) in Allentown, Pennsylvania

The Equipment Supply Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the ordering, maintenance, and replacement of all Emergency Department equipment and supplies in collaboration with Materials Management and SPD. Flexes as needed to assists with providing patient care as an Emergency Department Technician under the supervision of a registered nurse.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains inventory of all specialty equipment and trauma bay stock.

  • Acts as a department liaison between Materials Management, BioMed, Engineering, Sterile Processing Department, Print Shop, and the Emergency Department.

  • Communicates and coordinates with ED leadership, physicians, residency program leaders, and specialty services who require specialized equipment to be available in the ED.

  • Identifies and communicates the Emergency Department’s capital equipment replacement needs to Patient Care Director

  • Assists the Patient Care Director with budget determination by investigating cost and best alternatives to capital purchases, special order items, and other department needs.

  • Assists the Patient Care Director with justification of the department’s monthly operation budget vs. actual expense discrepancies.

  • Identifies and communicates opportunities for cost reduction through process improvement. Maintains and orders appropriate inventory of department forms, medical & office supplies, and new or equipment.

  • Problem-solves within the Emergency Department in matters related to the activities and operations of the department.

  • Maintains a clean and orderly work environment at all times in accordance with Environment of Care Standards, Department of Health, and the Joint Commission. Facilitates ongoing maintenance and repair of equipment and department proper.

  • Functions as an Emergency Department Technician as needed

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Sit up to 2 hours per day; 1 hour at a time. Stand for up to 8 hours per day; Walk up to 8 hours per day; 10 minutes at a time. Consistently lift, carry, and push objects up to 50 pounds. Transport patients weighing up to 250 lbs via wheelchair, bed and/or stretcher. Frequently stoop and bend and reach above shoulder level. Must be able to perceive attributes of an object through touch. Must be able to hear as it relates to normal conversation, and high/low frequencies. Must be able to see as it relates to general, near, far, color, and peripheral vision

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree in Business Administration preferred.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Seven to ten years of experience in the following department(s): Emergency Department, Storeroom, Purchasing, Sterile Processing Division preferred. Knowledge of inventory control and budgeting process required. EMT certification preferred. CPR certification required. Medical terminology required.

WORK SHIFT:

Full time days, as scheduled. 40 hours per week. Weekend and holiday requirements. Shift rotation may be required to meet staffing needs.
